Small & Sunlight

Whew, I am so glad Joseph and I made it to mass! Jessy took the early shift of caring for Joseph at 7:00 am (yes, I fed him at 5am and put back to sleep) and let me sleep to 9 am! Heavenly, I really needed it and it seems I have a summer cold which is likely one of the reasons I was even more exhausted than usual. Well, anyway, Jessy stayed home to sleep while I took lovebug to mass and grocery shopping.

Of course when you are alone with a babe at mass, you are lucky to catch the words of the gospel and a few words of wisdom from the homily. Well, the devotion of God's great love for me continues to amaze me. The line from the homily was "Nothing you have is too small for God." That really knocked my socks off because my three second prayer as I slid into the pew was "God, I know our house is small, but you are making the room for the boys! Somehow, you are making a way, somehow you are honoring our 'yes'".

The next thing that ministered to my spirit was the first line of a song which said "Those who have lived in the darkness are thankful for the sunlight."

Our family is growing. At least for awhile, but we hope that all will work out for the changes to be permanent. We have two boy cousins that we love very much who have had an incredibly difficult so far in life and are gonna try to provide a loving, secure and godly home for them.

God would not let our hearts rest until He had us fully open to His will.

God will lead us. We shall follow.

We already love them and they love us, that is a good starting place, I think!

Dada

Today Joseph began to say my husband's new favorite word!

We were both amazed, stunned and then we gently smiled at one another and high-fived!!

So glad Joseph has such a loving and happy Daddy!

These are some pictures from my two boys' first father's day together!

Music to my ears

When Joseph was baptized, the Trahan's brought this fun toy to Joseph for him to play with. Since they knew how much their kids loved it, they were sure Joseph would love it, too!

Well, he does love it and he squirms out of my arms to get on the floor to play with it.

This is exciting for me, seeing him have so much fun and to see his little personality coming through!

This past weekend he learned how to push the lever to make the music sing! If he is already on his knees, he starts t rock and 'dance' to the music!

Being an early interventionist before becoming a mom, certain milestones that aren't really noticed by most people seen to jump out at me. Since the milestones are happening so quickly, I like being able to enjoy each new one.

These are the moments that get me through the rough nights lately. It is the teething that rattles his chains during the night, thank goodness for beautiful and happy moments like these!

My heart aches when I realize how fast this time is going.

Wonder. I live my life in wonder these days.

That little thigh roll is one of our "sweet spots" another of my favorite sweet spots that I love to kiss is the bridge of his nose right between those heavenly blue eyes!
I am so thankful that he is the one that brings music to my ears! Each giggle or smile gives me just a glimpse of how much God must take delight in all of us.

Thank you God for answered prayers.

My favorite little guy . . .

is a very silly boy with eyes as blue as the bright sky!

is now a one tooth fella, though not for long according to his restless night.

is a master at making the funniest funny faces.

has the best time giving sweet kisses!

and is the master of trying to quickly avoid the camera, on second thought he is not avoiding the camera he is trying to get the lens cap to his little mouth!

My baby you'll be.....

A Sunday siesta after mass!

I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for all-ways
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

A quote from one of our favorite books.

New beginnings

Well it looks like we could be becoming the caregivers or custodial parents to two teenage boy cousins of ours.

We look forward to getting them out of a terrible situation, but need tons of prayers. This will not be easy but it will be worth it.

Please pray for them, us, and their momma!

I am especially dealing with a boatload of fear and selfish inclinations. I am being obedient to my husband's direction for our family.

Good things are gonna be born out of this, of that I am sure.

Only God could bring us to this situation and only God can bring us through it!

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.
St. Gianna, pray for us.
St. Monica, pray for us.

Friends

Today Joseph and I had some very special guests! This family is a light in a dark world and are such an inspiration to our family.

My CrMS instructor and a few of her precious kids came by today and Joseph loved them! Our home was blissfully busy and it gave me a sneak peek of what a large family could be like :)

I love this family so much! It was a joy to allow Joseph bring them joy, too!

Tidbit - the seet girl holding Joseph was born around the time we were learning CrMS!

Special Memories

Today was the first time Joseph heard the rain and knew something different was happening. Here we are watching the rain together. Best moment of the day!

Last night before I put him down for the night. My heart is wrapped around his finger.

Teething boy who loves his gas medicine :)

Our hearts have been very heavy lately as we struggle with a difficult choice so I needed these moments of beauty abd joy!!!

Alligator Adventures

In April we were out for a drive and we stopped by one of our favorite nature areas in Cameron Parish. It was Joseph's first trip to see gators and his favorite great aunt joined us for the adventure.

We spotted a few gators from the safety of our car.

This one looks like he is smiling for the camera!

We are not all "Swamp People" and we don't "choot 'em" all the time.

The alligators are going a bit wild though and one even showed up in a local Lowe's Garden Center this week.

In all honesty, they make for some good eatin'.

At the end of the day we wre dragging, but Joseeph was especially excited to be home!

Joseph says "We love you Ancy!!! Thanks for joining us on our adventure! I am really glad you hung out in the backseat with me while Mom drove us to our appointment and to see the gators but Mom was most excited about the fresh gulf shrimp she got during our trip. They cooked some that night but did not share any with me! They do promise to share shrimp with me one day though ;)"

Ready, Set, Go & Grow!!!

What a day to celebrate!

Joseph turned 7 months old today.

I have to say that the time is passing way too fast! I am so grateful to be able to spend so much time loving this little guy. Just another reminder that when the storms come, God sends gorgeous rainbows! Last year at this time, I was begging God to keep this little one growing in my womb and desperately trying to pleasantly accept my newfound unemployment. I still struggle with not contributing financially to our household but I am so grateful that my husband works so hard to allow me to stay home with Joseph. This year I am having fun shopping for pj's that will actually fit this growing boy. He is so tall, I had to get two 18 month footed pj's today for him! They are only big in his belly area!

The highlights of today was he crawled from one end of the living room to me this evening after his bath. I can't deny it any longer, we have a crawler on our hands. I am not ready for this. Today after we got back from town I put him on the living room floor and washed some dishes and Daisy got up on the couch and watched him, like she was his babysitter. It was quite comical, after I got on the floor with him, she left. I guess she thought her job was done.

Unfortunately, we are trying to clear up a rash that formed around his mouth from his drooling, etc. It is not pretty or fun. It must bother him because he gets very upset when I wipe it after each meal. He still loves his bath time and he got a new rubber ducky today from a friend's thrift store. We are thinking of a rubber ducky themed 1st birthday because rubber duckies are HIS obsession!!!

I cannot believe seven months have passed so quickly, we love you little guy!

Six Month Stats

Too bad we are only two days shy of Joseph turning 7 months old, but today we had his 6 month 'Well Baby' visit. By the way, our pediatrician is awesome! I love that she was wearing a Saint Bracelet today and Joseph just loved her as she made him smile and giggle!

He is looking great and doing well! He is weighing in at a whopping 17 lbs 14 oz!!! Wow! He is now 27 1/2 in. Both in the 80th percentile! His doctor was impressed with his growth!

This visit went so much better than the last one. Last time he cried the WHOLE time! He was a little charmer today!

On a funny note, she checked him out thoroughly and checked his rear to make sure there was no diaper rash and when she checked him out she said he has the best looking rear for a teething baby :) She was wondering what we use to avoid diaper rash! I told her I use Aquaphor when diapering for a poopy diaper. Yah, something I am doing right! I will take all the good news I can get.

Also, the gas tends to be better lately. I think I found the culprit! Bananas tend to cause gas for Joseph so we only give him a little with his breakfast and he has time to work it out during the day and so that means fewer tummy aches during the night!

Dear Joseph

Dear Joseph,

Tonight as I was putting you to sleep, you rubbed my face as you always do and my heart just melted. We snuggled close as I rocked you and whispered our prayers with you. It has been a busy day but as always my time spent with you in the quiet moments of the evening make my heart flutter.

I hope that when you are grown and possibly raising babies of your own you will have the same feeling of fulfillment, joy, and wonder as you help your child drift off to a peaceful sleep. Each night we ask God to give you a peaceful and holy rest. Every single night we thank him for the gift that is you and that you are a part of our family. We have also begun to ask God to bless you with a sister or brother one day, as He sees fit. Then we pray for all of our family, friends, and those little ones growing in wombs and for all those praying to have a baby growing in a womb that will one day be a part of their own family. Your Daddy often laughs at your Mommy because our prayers go on for awhile, but we try hard to not leave anyone out!

Joseph, you are a light to me and your Daddy. Speaking of light, I still love when you are drawn to the light! I often talk with you about how it must remind you of the great light of the one who knit you in my womb. Even though you were made in secret, in darkness, the hands that knit you were filled with light! I hope to always teach you to follow the light of God, to always trust in His love for you, and to know that He created you in love, with purpose, and with pleasure. Just as you bring delight to my heart, God finds delight in you, too!

I love you, son. Sometimes those words seem so small compared to depth of emotion they represent but each moment that I spend with you that love grows and I pray that I can teach you to love purely and in kindness so that your very life reflects that of your creator!

Sweet dreams, my lovebug, sweet dreams!

Love,
Mommy

A boy & his duck

A boy and his duck make my world go round!

Bathtime is a big deal around here.

It involves lots of giggles, tons of wiggles, and super soakin' splashing!

Someone once told me that bathtime would be very fun for family bonding and I am so glad she was right.

It seems with each splash my heart falls more in love with this little guy.

If the splashes do that, then the smiles he generously shares make me feel tightly wrapped around his little finger!

Cool Dude

A wise friend of mine encouraged us to do "photo shoots" during the day while I am able to be home with Joseph. Wise friend, indeed! Such a way to really capture the fun we have around here!
